Prickly Tales is dedicated to helping Britains rapidly decreasing Hedgehog population.
We are a completely voluntary organisation receiving no funding, so we rely on public generosity to continue our valuable work.
We are currently aiming towards becoming a registered charity and will update on our progress.
Hedgehog rehabilitation is very time consuming and extremely costly, every Hedgehog that comes into our care will receive fluids, poo samples will then be checked for worms and then the appropriate medication given.
Some Hedgehogs can be in our care for several weeks before they are ready for release and if being overwintered this can turn into several months.
Every cage is cleaned out at least once a day, sometimes twice a day and everything is disinfected and sterilised.
Every donation will help us, no matter how small. Could you add a couple of tins of cat food to your weekly shop?
Listed below are some of the items that we need:
Tinned cat food (whiskas supermeat with chicken seems to be the favourite), any chicken based food, preferably not in gravy.
Kitten biscuits – once again chicken based.
Kitchen Roll – we go through rolls of this when cleaning out.
Old towels or fleece – used for bedding
Newpapers – shredded for use as bedding
We are also desperate for the following items
Animal Heat pads – preferably thermostat controlled
Rabbit or Guinea Pig cages
Guinea Pig bowls or saucers to use as feeding bowls
